REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Deputy Governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama hopes that Tanjung Priok port in North Jakarta can be center of ASEAN free market in 2015. He also expressed his desire that the port could be a logistics warehouse like in neighboring country, Singapore.
"It's good if Tanjung Priok port can welcome ASEAN Economic Community in 2015. I hope the port can be an ASEAN market center someday," Purnama said recently.
The man who is popularly known as Ahok said if Jakarta Provincial Government could manage the deep sea port like Tanjung Priok, it was possible to make it real. Tanjung Priok must be repaired, so that transportation flow and goods from ships to logistic warehouse will be easier, smooth and fast.
Jakarta Provincial Government will cooperate with PT Indonesia Port Corporation (IPC) as state owned port operator to build a better port and logistic warehouse in Tanjung Priok. Ahok also expects the readiness of human resources in Jakarta ahead of ASEAN Free Trade Area in 2015.
"We not only have to prepare a place, but also human resources," Ahok added.
