RI, Slovakia sign 50 mln USD investment Agreement

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia and Slovakia reached a US$850 million investment agreement at their third Joint Commission Session and eighth Business Round Table meeting in Bali on Monday, the Foreign Ministry reported on Wednesday.

The investment value was the latest progress made, outside of the investment by the two countries in 2011-2012, at about US$1.2 billion, the ministry said in a press statement.

The Indonesian delegation to the Joint Commission Session was led by Dian Triansyah Djani, director general for America and Europe at the Foreign Ministry, while the Slovakian delegation was chaired by Tomas Malatinsky, director general of international trade at the Economic Affairs Ministry.

At the end of the meeting, both sides signed the minutes of the meeting, containing the substance of cooperation related to priority fields, including trade, investment, standardization, agriculture, energy, forestry and the environment.

The Joint Commission Session was followed by the eight Business Round Table meetings, which were opened by Dian Triansyah Djani, with Tomas Malatinsky as a keynote speaker.

Indonesia and Slovakia have investment potentials of high economic value in the fields of manufacturing, energy and food security, Dian Triansyah Djani said.

In 2013, both countries signed five investment agreements, which will be realized in Indonesia, including the construction of a power plant and cement factory.
