REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- The Ministry of Transportation will continue to increase the airport development budget, particularly for the Komodo Airport in Labuhan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara, Deputy Transportation Minister Bambang Susantono said.
"We will continue to ramp up our budget program for the development of transportation infrastructure, especially at the airport in Labuhan Bajo," Bambang said, during his address at the Garuda Indonesia flight "Explore" at Komodo airport on Tuesday.
He noted that the Ministry of Transportation was responsible for improving airport infrastructure through a carefully thought out plan.
"The development will take place in stages in order to make the results and quality perfect," Bambang pointed out.
According to him, all airports in Indonesia would be repaired or reconstructed in stages in order to provide better services to the public.
"Soon a new building project at the Komodo Airport will be completed, which will have a major impact on services related to the community and tourists who visit Labuhan Bajo," Bambang said.
He added that the new route of the Garuda Indonesia to Komodo airport in East Nusa Tenggara and Bima in West Nusa Tenggara would also have a positive impact on the development of tourism in the two areas.
"I am optimistic that more domestic and foreign tourists will visit Labunan Bajo and Bima following the commencement of Garuda's new flight to these two destinations," Bambang said.
