REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR -- The Bali provincial executive board of the Golkar Party will summon two cadres arrested in a raid at a night club in Jakarta early Saturday for allegedly abusing narcotics.
"We will summon the two Golkar Party cadres on Monday (Nov 25) to explain their being arrested in a raid at the night club," the secretary of the party's provincial executive board, Komang Purnama, said here on Saturday.
The two party members, who belong to the Bangli district legislative council (DPRD), were released after they tested negative for drugs, he said.
"It is true that based on the information we have received the two Golkar cadres were at the night club when security personnel conducted the raid. Therefore, all guests were checked for drugs. However, both of them were released after they tested negative for drugs," he said.
Komang noted that the Golkar Party would not tolerate any of its cadres using drugs.
"This is part of the party's commitment to eradicate drugs. Whoever tests positive for drugs will be sacked," he said.
Drugs were a common enemy and the Golkar Party was committed to combating them. Therefore, anybody found consuming or trafficking in drugs must be dealt with lawfully, he said.
A media report said earlier that two members of the Bali provincial legislative council (DPRD) netted in a raid tested positive for drugs.
"Two of three DPRD members of Bali province tested positive for drugs," Snr Comr Wiyarso, head of drug sub-directorate of the National Police Criminal Investigation Directorate, said early Saturday.
