REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - South Korean Ministry of Labor set quota of 62 thousand foreign workers to work in the country. It consists of 52 thousand new workers and 10 thousand re-entry hired workers. Employment scheme is based on government to government agreement with 15 countries, including Indonesia.
This cooperation consists of formal sector jobs, such as manufacturing, fisheries, construction, agriculture and services. Head of Human Resources Development Service of South Korea in Jakarta, Kyung-il Min said that Indonesia has the highest number of foreign workers in South Korea until the end of September 2013.
Indonesia's foreign workers in South Korea reached 7,239 workers, followed by Thailand (7,053), Philippines (5,514), Nepal (3,829), Sri Lanka (3,705), Myanmar (3,133), Uzbekistan (2,255), Mongolia (1,751), Bangladesh (1,409), Pakistan (826), East Timor (265), China (247) and Kyrgyzstan (135). Indonesia rises to the first rank by increasing quotas for migrant workers in the country.
It is also supported by the implementation of prospective migrant's placement in South Korea transparently, including rapid service bureaucracy and placement mechanism in National Labor Placement and Protection Agency (BNP2TKI). More than that, BNP2TKI is appreciated for continuously improving the quality of prospective Indonesia's migrants. For example, they have good language skills, as well as cultural knowledge of Korea.
