REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian hackers attacked pages of Australian intelligence agencies (ASIS) as a protest that Australia allegedly helped US to spy Indonesia. The hackers, who call themselves as 'Indonesian Hacker Forces' have hacked 170 websites with domain of co.au.
They conducted it since issue of wiretapping against Indonesia happened in early November. Australia's Sydney Morning Herald newspaper reported that Indonesian hackers continued to increase its 'revenge' in a week. Executive Director of Indonesia ICT Institute, Heru Sutadi said that hackers began to attack ASIS page on Friday, November 8.
"The attack made ASIS page stopped working," Sutadi said recently.
Sutadi explained that all perpetrators were cyber activist who called themselves Anonymous. Main player who attack ASIS system is Security Down Team. Other hacker groups, which also conducted cyber attacks are The ISD Team, Indonesian Cyber Army and Java Cyber Army. Their main target is Australian government owned sites, including National Security Agency (ASIO), Department of Ministry and Prime Minister.
Fairfax Media said that Indonesian hackers could not forgive Australian action, which spied Indonesian government. Therefore, they will continue to attack until Australia apologizes and promises to stop such illegal action.
