REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LANGKAT -- The Langkat district police recently seized 59 kilograms of cannabis leaves in a raid in the road between Langkat district and North Sumatra Province's capital Medan.
"There are two suspects in this case. Both were on a mini van heading to Medan city. During raid we found 40 bags of cannabis weighing 59 kilograms," Chief of Langkat district's Police Adjunct Senior Commissioner Yulmar Tri Himawan said here on Tuesday.
A suspect with the initial RE explained that he put 40 bags of cannabis below the car body by tying it up using woods and wires. Unfortunately during the way to Medan city, the traffic police raid RE and his collague A's car. Initially RE and A were arrested for possession of a sharp weapon. But after thorough search the police found 40 bags of cannabis in their car.
RE has been named a suspect in the case while investigation towards A's involvement is still ongoing. According to A's confession he does not know about the presence of the cannabis in the car and he is only a driver for RE.
