REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PONTIANAK -- Two people were found dead and another is missing, as floods swept through the Jage hamlet of Gamang village in the Banyuke Hulu subdistrict, Landak district of the West Kalimantan region on Friday, November 8.

"We have just received information from the Banyuke Hulu District Head that the floods had swept away two residents, while another is still missing," Marcel Benny, Head of West Kalimantan's Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency, said on Saturday.

The three people swept away by the floods were from the same family a mother, Ebeng, 47 years old, and two of her children, a boy and a girl, both under 10 years of age.

"The bodies of the mother and daughter have been found, while the whereabouts of the son are still to be traced," Benny said. Rescuers have arrived at the location and are searching for the missing person, he added.

Floods have been ravaging the district since Wednesday due to excessive rainfall, causing the Manyuke River to overflow its banks.
