REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Minister of Religious Affairs, Suryadharma Ali hopes that interreligious harmony in Indonesia will bring peace and prosperity. It needs cooperation among all parties, government and entire community.
"Interreligious harmony can change as it is dynamic process. It must be cared for" Ali said recently.
Ali said that religious harmony must be pursued, nurtured and maintained. There are no serious problems related to interreligious harmony in Indonesia now. It is still good.
For example, Muslims of Banten stayed in a diocesan office in event of Quran Recitation (MTQ) in Ambon, Maluku some time ago. It was a monumental event as Ambon was a conflict area.
Government warned that potential conflict in the country was always there. For example, in implementation of local election, there is also religious sentiment.
