REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia is not able to receive the existence of wiretapping devices at United State (US) Embassy in Jakarta. Indonesia asked an explanation from representatives of US Embassy in Jakarta.

"Indonesia has protested strongly to the news of the existence of wiretapping devices at US Embassy in Jakarta," Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marty Natalegawa said recently.

Natalegawa reacted to the news of Australian newspaper, Sydney Morning Herald on October 29, 2013. He said that he had spoken with US representatives in Jakarta to conduct an official explanation related the news. So far, there is no official response from US about wiretapping devices.

"This is not consistent with the spirit of friendly relations between both nations (Indonesia-US)," Natalegawa said recently.

US Embassy in Jakarta is suspected to be one out of 90 locations that have wiretapping facilities. It is based on a testimony of former intelligence officials in US National Security Agency (NSA), Edward Snowden which is quoted by Sydney Morning Herald and several other medias.
