REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- South Korea and Council of Indonesia's Ulama (MUI) will cooperate in halal food certification. South Korean Councillor of Forestry, Agriculture, Fisheries and Climate Change, Lee Mira said that majority of Indonesian people are Muslims.

"In near future, we will cooperate with MUI," Mira said recently.

Korean Embassy reminds South Korean employers that every Korean food and drinks in Indonesia must be certified halal. South Korea and MUI is still discussing halal certification.

Many South Korean businessmen wanted to get into this country. Many food retailers and others wanted to follow the success of electronics and mobile phones' companies.

Mari said that K-pop and K-drama had already been popular in Indonesia. Now, they want K-food to get the same. Mira believes that Indonesian people will be more accustomed to Korean cuisines as it has some similarities to Indonesian cuisines.

Last weekend, there was Korean Culinary Festival held in Lotte Shopping Avenue, Kuningan, South Jakarta. The festival featured various Korean dishes.
