REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANJARMASIN -- Implementation of regional autonomy makes county and city have larger authorities in managing budget. Parliament and the Council have extraordinary powers. The fact caused corruption shifted from central to local governments.

"Corruption is now more popular in local government. Let's stop it. Remember, local officials do not be tempted to become corruptor," President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan recently.

President Yudhoyono said that corruptor was hardly touched by the law previously. But now, corruption cannot be hidden. He asked many parties to conduct clean government based on rules and law.

Yudhoyono also asked governor and regents in South Kalimantan to work harder to make the province as a new economic growth center. South Kalimantan is able to contribute and connect regional economy each other.

"I hope that Masterplan of Acceleration and Expansion Economic Development of Indonesia (MP3EI) project in South Kalimantan completed in the right time. I will monitor with Hatta Rajasa (Coordinating Minister for Economics) to make sure that infrastructure project is built to enhance people welfare," Yudhoyono added.

Chairman of Democratic Party advised that provincial and local governments should be opened to investors and provide convenience, especially in licensing process. Through an easy permit process, many investors will come. It means, the economiy will grow faster.
