REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Japan tourism authority is giving a push to attract Muslim tourists from South East Asia including Indonesian. There is an increasing number of stakeholders that offer special packages to accommodate the Muslims visitors’ culture and needs

This package provides lodging, halal foods and destinations for tourists. "We want to promote Islamic tourism so that they can enjoy tourist attractions in Japan comfortably," Japanese Ambassador to Indonesia, Yoshinori Katori said in Jakarta on Thursday.

Hotel is inevitably the most important service needed by Muslim tourist, and now Japan, as the ambassador emphasize his remarks, provides hotels with such necessary facilities and also halal food menu on the list. Almost all tourist destinations in Japan, Ambassador promises, can be visited and enjoyed by Muslim visitors.

One of areas designated to serve Muslim tour package is Yamanshi Prefecture. Katori says although there is no direct flight from Jakarta to Yamanashi, but surrounding areas of Mount Fuji is accessible from Tokyo. The trip by train takes one and half hours, by car takes approximately 2 hours.

Governor of Yamanshi Prefecture, Shomei Yokouchi invites Indonesian Muslim community to visit Yamanashi. "We want people, particularly Indonesian Muslims to experience Yamanashi," said Yokouchi.  He admitts that Japan has strict law of visas requirements. "We still have strong optimism, however,  the government someday will relax the procedure if the promising tourisme industry grows significantly in the area."
