REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The largest security company in Indonesia, PT Mandiri Sekuritas focuses on boosting the growth of retail investors in Indonesian capital market in order to make industry more dynamic. Director of Mandiri Sekuritas, Abiprayadi Riyanto said retail investors were very important.

"Because the stock market is a combination between long and short term investments. The growth of retail investors will make capital market more dynamic," Riyanto said recently.

Riyanto said that institutional investors tended to invest for long term, while retail investors preferred short time investment. If the majority of long term investors withdraw their investment then change their transaction, then teh capital market must depend on retail investors.

Mandiri Sekuritas targeted to capture 40 thousand retail investors in stock market this year. Until August 2013, company has around 22 thousands retail customers. In the end of December 2012, number of retail investors reached 13 thousand customers.

Director of Capital Market in Mandiri Sekuritas, Laksono Widodo expects that ownership of assets by local investors can be dominated by local investors. Currently, foreign ownership in Indonesia's capital market is still dominated by foreign investors.
