Govt to simplify permit process on oil and gas investment

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Government will cut process of upstream oil and gas permits in large scale to accelerate investment realization. Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Hatta Rajasa said the number would be reduced from 69 permit groups to only eight permit groups.

"We will finish it by October," Rajasa said recently

The new policy will cut permissions in initial survey permit, exploration, development, exploitation and post operation permit. Rajasa said there were many permits could be eliminated. For example, permit to build gas station requires 17 licenses, oil and gas exploration requires 25 permits and for production requires 25 permits.

Rajasa said government would implement one stop service system which enable all sectors have authority to issue permits. Government will also form a team to monitor performance of integrated one stop service and supervision.
