REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - CEO of Inpex Corporation, Toshiaki Kitamura, met President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono this week, and discussed the oil and gas block especially Mahakam block. The Japanese company will end its management contract in Mahakam block in 2017.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jero Wacik said the company had been involved in management of 10 gas blocks in Indonesia. CEO of Inpex and the president discussed the management of Mahakam block after 2017.

Kitamura said that his company had some projects in Indonesia, including Total Project in Kalimantan and Masela Project in Maluku. The company has invested around 21 billion USD for both projects. 

"Masela will be the biggest project, and we will continue it," Kitamura said.

Government currently reevaluates gas management by foreign companies and asseses in order to increase profits gained by Indonesia. Earlier, Yudhoyono said that Indonesia needed more gas production to fulfill domestic demands.
