President attends inaguration of Hankook Tire factory

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono attended the inaguration of South Korean tire manufacturer, Hankook, in Bekasi, West Java on Tuesday. Former South Korean president, Lee Myung Bak and his wife also attended the event. 

"Tire industry in Indonesia will grow and become center for development of tire industry in the world," Yudhoyono said.

He explained production of Indonesian rubber reached 3.3 million tonnes per year. National tire industry is also able to compete in global market as average growth in this industry reaches above eight percent per year.

Hankook factory in Cikarang is seventh factory of global production centers owned by Hankook. Company started to build this factory in 2011 with total investment of 1.1 billion USD until 2018.

President was also accompanied by several ministers, including Minister of Industry MS Hidayat and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa.
