Indonesia to host Wayang World Puppet Carnival 2013

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia will host a world puppet show, called Wayang World Puppet Carnival 2013. It will be followed by 64 teams from 46 countries.

"Indonesian wayang has been deckared as a World Intangible Heritage by Unesco, so we deserve to hold this event," Chairman of the Indonesian Puppeteers Union (Pepadi), Ekotjipto on Wednesday.

Ekotjipto said wayang had universal values, so many other countries have puppet as part of their cultures. Five puppet masters from Indonesia will perform during the event.. 

Wayang World Puppet Carnival 2013 can be seen by public for free in three main performances locations in Jakarta, namely National Museum, Theatre of Usmar Ismail, field of National Monument (Monas).The show will be held on September 1-7, 2013.
