Govt intercepts the smuggling of 30 tonnes of Indian shallot

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NUNUKAN - Govenment aborted the smuggling of 30 tonnes of Indian shallot in Nunukan, North Borneo. The onion was loaded in a wooden boat and without import documents from Nunukan Quarantine Office.

 "The shallot was still labelled Indian. It was brought from Tawau, Malaysia in thousands of baskets and weigh 10 kilograms each," Inspector of Nunukan Customs at Sei Bolong Port, Ade Nurman said on Tuesday.

Nunukan Customs Officers got the information of the illegal shallot from local residents. The shallotis exported by Bharani Trading Company Private Limited Tamilnadu India and imported by Syarikat Ping Thye Trading Co (PG) Sdn Bhd, Penang Malaysia.

Nunukan Customs will send all shallot to Nunukan Quarantine Office. The owner, Utta admitted he got Indian shallot from Tawau and brought it with his boat, KM Zafir GT.27 No.49/II V 2011 LO No.1375/L without legal document from Nunukan Quarantine Office.
