Indonesian flags stand in former complex of East Timor

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUPANG - Indonesian red and white colored flags stand in former residence of East Timor's refugees during exodus era in 1999. he complex is located in Belo and Tuapukan village, East Kupang district, East Nusa Tenggara. 

Residents and government offficials hoisted the Indonesian flags in front of their houses as well as governmental and office buildings. One resident, Zicu Zoares (30 years), said that the flag hoisting to demonstrate his love and respect to Indonesia. The former East Timor citizen said he also followed flag hoisting ceremony in Kupang. 

"Indonesia is neither only Maluku, Flores, Papua, Bali, Java, Sulawesi, Sumatra nor Kalimantan. Indonesia is one," Joze said.

Joze said he was proud that Indonesia was diversed with different races, religions and cultures. Diversity becomes a force for national unity as Indonesia stand on its pluralism. For him, nationalism was sense of love, respect and sense of pride that was owned by people of this country.
