Govt offers Kemaro Island to investors

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG - Mayor of Palembang, Romi Herton offers development and management of central attractions of Musi River in Kemaro Island, South Sumatra. He has invited some investors to see the potential of the island.

"They showed some interests and hopefully Kemaro Island will be soon developed as religious tourism area," Herton said on Monday.

Investor will build resort and hotel including water sports facilities in Kemaro Island resort will be built. Kemaro Island is often visited by Chinese descent visitors from Indonesia and even other countries.

Herton added construction of various facilities and management would be managed by private parties. Those facilities are expected to attract more tourists in the island, where the oldest temple and tombs in South Sumatra are situated. The island also has an eight floor pagoda standing in the middle of Musi River.
