REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Sales turnover of a number small medium enterprises (SMEs) showed significant improvement during Ramadan. Deputy Chairman of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Erwin Aksa said compared to a normal day, SMEs got turnover between 50 to 200 percent.
"Demands especially in garment sector hike because the sales increase significantly during Ramadan compared to normal days," Aksa said on Sunday.
The increase is affected by inflation ahead and during fasting month of Ramadan caused by fuel price hike. The sales turnover of food and beverage sectors showed an increase by 200 percent then followed by garment and business in automotive repair services. The booming in repair service business is related to tradition during Eid al fitr when many people use to visit their family members in other city or town.
