Dumai Police confiscate 50 tons of illegal shallot

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DUMAI - Criminal Police Unit in Dumai, Riau raided a  warehouse and found 50 tons of illegal shallot from other country this weekend. 

"Police detained six suspects. They were suspected to import food commodity without health certificate from original country," Police Chief of Dumai, Yudi Kurniawan said on Sunday.

The suspects carried and transported ten tons of shallot allegedly by using two trucks. Police also secured two units of trucks, Mitsubishi and Hyundai. Next process, Police will send information to local agricultural quarantine center.

Indonesian government decided to reopen import of three commodities to stabilize the soaring prices. The three commodites are shallot, chili pepper and beef.
