Analyst: Political agreement behind revised state budget 2013

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Political observer of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Gungun Heryanto suspects there is political agreement between Golkar party and government. Heryanto assessed there was an existing transactional efforts in the approval process of 2013 Revised State Budget.

"The budget allocation for Lapindo was indeed suspected as deal among political elites. Politicians just thought to secure their position and ration respectively," Heryanto said.

On Monday night House of Representative passed revised state budget (APBNP) 2013 with allocation of 155 billion IDR as compensation for Lapindo' victims. The surprised move is stated in Article 9.

Thousands of people left homeless by the Lapindo mud flood disaster in Sidoarjo, East Java and have yet to receive compensation seven years after the disaster. They criticized Aburizal Bakrie, the owner of PT Lapindo Brantas and also Chairman of Golkar Party, for his folly in handling the Lapindo.

Meanwhile, Deputy of the House, Pramono Anung admitted he missed the article. He found out the point in plenary session.

"I didn't know such article. I believe, Mr. Marzuki Alie (Chairman of the House) also missed the point," Anung said on Wednesday.

If people feel unsatisfied with the Lapindo's article, Anung Z to perform judicial review to the Constitutional Court.
