KADIN: Productivity of agricutural sector very low

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin Indonesia) the agriculture and food sector in Indonesia can absorp many workers, but its productivity in this sector is still very low or at 14.2 percent.

"Indonesian agricultural sector becomes an important thing. This sector can absorb 40 percent and half manpower by planting and food crops," Didik J Rachbini Head of Institute for Assessment, Research and Economic Development (LP3I) at Kadin, said on Saturday.

Palm oil seems the only agriculture commodity grow well in Indonesia. Rachbini said that without government's internvention, the agricurture sector would not  developn
