REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resource suggested a gas price standard for fertilizer factories. Head of Oil and Gas Special Task Force (SKK Migas) Rudi Rubiandini said the proposal would be realized soon.

"We discussed the gas price standar for fertilizer plants in the future," Rubiandini said after a meeting in Jakarta this weekend.

The meeting was attended by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, Deputy Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Susilo Siswoutomo and Chief Presidential Work Unit for Development Monitoring and Control (UKP4) Kuntoro Mangkusubroto.

Secretary of SKK Migas, Gde Pradnyana said that the idea of gas price standard came from Arifin Tasrif, the president director PT Pupuk Indonesia, state-owned fertilizer firm. Currently the gas prices used for fertilizer plants vary.

"As a comparison, PT Pupuk Srwidjaja Palembang can buy cheap gas about 2.4 USD per mmbtu, while in other place the price can touch 8 USD per mmbtu. Once we hace gas price standar, then it's more stable for fertilizer plants," Pradnyana said.
