Buleleng becomes magnet to local tourists

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BULELENG - Local tourists became the belle of Bali tourism market, including Buleleng regency. Head of Cultural and Tourism of Buleleng, Ketut Warkadea explained that local tourists dominated with ratio of 3:1 while foreign tourists usually came from European countries.

"Many local tourists from different areas visit Buleleng. The number triples compared to foreign tourists," Warkadea said on Monday.

Next July, regional government of Buleleng will hold Lovina Festival. The festival aims to promote Buleleng tourism. The festival will feature art and cultural attractions, including exhibitions and performances.

Buleleng is an area in northern part of Bali island. It has many attractions, such as Lovina Beach, Menjangan Island, hot bath tubs, historical attractions tomb of Jaya Prana and ecotourism in the mountainous region.

In 2012, the sites were visited by 8,000 tourists and this year the number is expected to reach 12 thousand tourists. Regarding tourism facilities, there are four thousand hotel rooms and 20 percent are four-star hotel facilities with 40 percent occupancy rate.
