REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TIMIKA - Rescue team found one more body of Freeport's miner trapped in Big Gosan, Tembagapura, Papua on Thursday. Fifteen workers were evacuated from the location and five of them were dead. Four of them are Mateus Marandof, Selpianus Edowai, Yapinus Tabuni and Aan Nugraha.
"We still don't know the identity of the new body and we took him to the Tembagapura hospital," Head police of Tembagapura, Police Adjunct Commissioner Sudirman said on Thursday.
Untill today hundreds of Freeport workers still flocked the the main road access to the underground Grassberg open pit and ore processing plant at Mile 74. They checked every passing car and only allowed Emergency Response Group's and and rescue team's cars to pass.
The company's production activities stopped since Tuesday (5/14) after a training facility at Big Gossan underground mine collapsed. According to Freeport data, there are 39 people in the underground room and 15 of them had been evacuated.
President Director of Freeport Indonesia, Rozik B Soetjipto expressed his deep condolences. "We do our best for workers who are still trapped down there. I send my deepest condolences to the families of the victims," he said.
