REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY) planned to announce final policy related to subsidized fuel price at the National Development Planning Meeting on Tuesday. Head of National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas), Armida Alisjahbana said on Monday.

"The President may announce it (the policy) tomorrow (Tuesday)," Alisjahbana said on Monday. President will listen to inputs on government plans to introduce a dual-price scheme before making a final policy.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Jero Wacik said that dual-price scheme might change to single price scheme. However, he claimed that public had undestood that fuel prices would rise. "We don't need dual-price scheme and the fuel may not set above 6,500 IDR per liter," he said on Monday.

Jero added that  the government still put the policy under consideration. With dual-price scheme, the price of subsidized fuel will set at 4,500 IDR for motorcycles and public vehicles while 6,500 IDR is set for private cars. By raising the fuel prices, government could save up to 21 trillion IDR to national budget.
