REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Indonesian government decided to increase the quota of frozen meat import immediately as local meat unable to meet the demands, Minister of Agriculture, Suswono, announced on Wednesday.

"Only the haves can buy meat 100 thousands IDR per kilogram," Suswono said in Jakarta. He believes this addition doesn't affect the price in the market and he also guaranteed that the frozen meat would not be sold in traditional market.

Suswono said that the import will be conducted by ministry of agriculture and the ministry would control the importation legal process. The volume of imported frozen meat will be flexible according to the market demands.

To regulate the meat prize, government will impose tariff system. Until today, the total import of frozen meat has reached 80 thousands tons.

Price of meat in the market approximately 91 thousands IDR per kg now. The government is still focusing on effort to cut the price to 76 thousands per kg.
