Jokowi beats Megawati in... a presidential survey

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - A survey compiled by Jakarta Survey Institution (LSJ) shows that the Governor of Jakarta, Joko Widodo, or famous as Jokowi, tops the electability of presidential candidate. Jokowi, who is the cadre of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP), obtains 18.1 percent compared with 7.2 percent for Chairwoman of PDIP Megawati Soekarno Putri.

The survey, conducted in February 9-15 in 33 provinces involving 1,225 respondents, shows that Jokowi also beats Chairman of Gerindra Party Prabowo, former Vice President Jusuf Kalla, and Chairman of Golkar Party Aburizal Bakrie with the margin of error 2.8 percent and level of confidence 95 percent.

"I am glad because Jokowi tops the survey. We must be grateful because there will be regeneration in national leadership," Political Analyst, Fadjroel Rahman, said on Tuesday. Rahman said that Jokowi appeared as a figure that every people always want.

In the survey, Prabowo Subianto trailed Jokowi with 10.9 percent, Chairman of Hanura with 9.8 percent, Jusuf Kalla with 8.9 percent and Megawati with 7.2 percent.
