REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia Non-governmental Organization, Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C), speeds up the building of Indonesian Hospital in Gaza strip (RSI Gaza), Palestine. The building was expected to finish this year, said the Presidium of MER-C, Joserizal Jurnalis.
MER-C sent an engineer named Edy Wahyudi and the other three activists on Friday, February 15, to monitor the second stage of RSI Gaza. The second stage covers architectural construction and mechanical electrical carried out by Indonesian engineers and technicians.
Wahyudi and the activists arrived in Cairo on Saturday, February 16. They directly went to Rafah border and entered Gaza. They all committed to work in Gaza strip until the building of the hospital is finished.
The total donation from Indonesians for this hospital is 30.7 billion IDR, surpassing the target of 30 billion IDR. "Alhamdulillah, it surpasses the target," the Head of MER-C Construction Division, Faried Thalib, said.
However, the hospital also needs health equipments and infrastructural development such as mosque, Indonesian housing and management building. Jurnalis said they needed at least another 30 billion IDR. Yet, he is optimistic that they can gather the funds.
