German Foreign Minister visits Borobudur

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOROBUDUR - German Foreign Minister, Guido Westerwelle, visited Borobudur Temple, Central Java, on Sunday to perceive the conservation after 2010 eruption of Mount Merapi. 

He was accompanied by Indonesian Deputy Minister of Education and Culture Wiendu Nuryanti, Representatives of German Embassy in Indonesia, UNESCO, and Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The entourage went around the temple complex which was built in the 9th century during the reign of the Sailendra Dynasty., observed the relief and climbed to Borobudur's main stupa.

Westerwelle said Government of Germany supported the conservation of Borobudur Temple. Conservation of the symbol of unity of diversity in Indonesia was important for future's generation, he added. "This is a fascinating world heritage," he said while leaving Borobudur.
