Govt promotes Karawang Industrial Estate to Japanese investors

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Government of Indonesia promoted investment in Karawang Industrial Estate to delegation of Japan's Kansai Economic Federation (Kankeiren) during their visit to Indonesia on Monday. 

"I have explained our potency of investment, including projects in Karawang Industrial Estate," Indonesian Minister of Industry MS Hidayat said on Monday.

He said that 40 investor of Japanese delegation representing 1,400 Japanese industrial companies are expected to invest in Indonesia. "They have not specifically discussed their interests, but they mentioned about Metropolitan Priority Area (MPA)," he said. Japan is interested on developing MPA, including infrastructure development.

Chairman of Kankeiren, Shosuke Mori, said Kankeiren was committed to enhance Indonesia-Japan relations. Kankeiren was established in October 1946 as a private, non-profit organization. It consists of 1400 members drawn from representative businesses and organizations which pursue economic activity mainly in the Kansai region. Kankeiren has worked to contribute to the sound development of the Japanese economy through conducting research studies on important issues facing the Japanese economy, and representing and realizing the collective will of the Kansai business community.
