REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG - Geological Agency in the Ministry for Energy and Mineral Resources will develop two geoparks in West Java. The two geoparks met the requirements of Unesco's Global National Geopark (GNG), Secretary of Geological Agency, Yun Yunus Kusumabrata, said.

"We are talking about geoparks are in North Bandung and South Tasikmalaya. The budget for the development of both is around 3-4 billion IDR," Kusumabrata said on Thursday.

He mentioned that West Java had many potential geoparks. However, only two that meet the requirements. Geopark in North Bandung includes Tangkuban Perahu, Burangrang Mount, Patuha and Papandayan Mountain.

"They are affected by eruption of Sunda Mount," he said.

Meanwhhile, geopark in South Tasikmalaya covers caves and rivers in Cipatujah, such as Green Canyon, Cibunian Village, Batu Karas and Kesik Luhur. Evidence says the cites are affected by ancient deep sea volcano.
