REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG - The Assessment Institute for Foods, Drugs and Cosmetics, the Indonesian Council of Ulama (LPPOM MUI) monitors and controls the trade of imported products and foods. The measure aims to ensure that the products entering Indonesia are halal or permitted under Islamic law.

"Almost all of imported products are without halal certificate, so those products must be monitored," Director of LPPOM MUI, Lukman Nul Hakim, said on Wednesday.
