REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Minister of Agriculture, Suswono, asks state-owned airlines to help distributing agricultural products. Garuda and Merpati, he said, could give incentive on beef distribution from central production in Nusa Tenggara to Java Island.

"We build slaughterhouse in NTT and NTB. The beef will be distributed by air plane. Transportation is the main problem," Suswono said on Wednesday.

He said that Nusa Tenggara was ready to supply beef for Jakarta. However, distribution is still the main problem and air transportation is best option to suppress the food price. In other countries such as Thailand, he said, airlines played important role in food distribution.

"I asked the Minister for State-owned Enterprises to stress Garuda about the incentive for agricultural products," he said.
