REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - A four year old boy from Bogor died because of avian influenza or H5N1 virus, Ministry of Health announced. The victim, IT (initial name -Ed), lived in Nagreg village of Parung Panjang, Bogor, West Java.
On November 30, 2012, IT suffered high fever. Then his parents took him to Puskesmas (health clinics) on the next day. Without any sign of progress, they took him to a private hospital on December 4. Then, he was hospitalized in Tangerang Local Hospital on December 6 because he suffered fever, cough, and suffocation. Things got worse and he died at 23.40 on that day.
"After examination, he is predicted to have direct contact with carcass of poultry," the Head of Communication Center at Ministry of Health, Murti Utami, said on Monday. The case has been informed to World Health Organization (WHO).
