REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAMUJU - A new gas reserve is found in North Mamuju, West Sulawesi. A company, Tately NV, found it in Budong-Budong block after drilling to 3,000 meter deep, Regent of North Mamuju, Agus Ambo Djiwa, said.

"They found it there, but the drilling must be stopped due to high pressure," Djiwa said on Saturday.

Tateli then drilled in Baras, 50 meters from North Mamuju and they also found another gas reserve. The regent hopes companies investing in the region will manage well the resources to contribute to the acceleration of Mamuju's development.

"We hope that the discovery can produce gas. It will add regional and state income," he said.

Some other oil and gas companies including Exon Mobil, Marathon Indonesia and Chonoco Philips were conducting exploration in West Sulawesi. Exon Mobil was exploring Suremana and Mandar blocks, while Marathon Indonesia was in Pasangkayu block. However, Exon Mobil, and Marathon failed.
