REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Taipei Economic and Trade Office (TETO) holds the first fine arts exhibition called Da Dun Fine Arts in Indonesia. The exhibition presents 107 fine arts from 33 countries.
Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition was first held in Taichung, Taiwan, in 1996. It was limited to Taichung artists, but after 1999 anyone in the world could participate in this annual event.
This years, TETO cooperates with Indonesian National Gallery to present the fine arts from November 13 to December 2. "With this exhibition, I expect Indonesia and Taiwan exchange their arts or artists," the Deputy Major of Taichung, Cai Bing-kun, said on the opening of the exhibition on Tuesday.
He hopes Indonesians can understand well about Taiwan arts, particularly Taichung arts, through this exhibition. He also invites Indonesian artists to exhibit their arts in Taiwan.
Da Dun Fine Arts Exhibition is divided into three categories. Among others are calligraphy, oil painting, and glue color painting.
"Many people knows that Taiwan is famous for electronic, agriculture, and business. Little know that Taiwan also has fine arts," the Head of TETO, Andrew Hsia, said. Taiwan, he added, does not only maintain the arts, but also innovate its creation.
Meanwhile, the Head of Indonesian National Gallery, Tubagus Andre, hopes the exhibition can inspire Indonesian art lovers to know Taiwan arts. "Arts is universal, but every region has distinct characteristic, culture, and history. Those make the arts a part of a country," Andre said.
