IFC to increase investment

Indonesia is currently boosting its economic development through the MP3EI program. The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has expressed its continuing support for the government`s program under the MP3EI.

"IFC supports the government`s program because MP3EI is a positive initiative and will provide development opportunities for people in these regions," IFC Country Manager Sarvesh Suri said recently.

"The World Bank and IFC are studying the policies that the Indonesian government plans to implement over the next three years," he added.

As a member of the World Bank Group, IFC plans to increase its investment in Indonesia by 400-600 million USD by June 2013. "The funds will be used to finance hydropower plant projects of private companies," Suri stated.

"IFC`s investment has reached almost 300 million USD across eight projects in Indonesia. This is in addition to the 7 million USD invested in technical collaboration projects across the country in 2012. And in 2013, IFC plans to add a further 400-600 million USD more," he explained.
