REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG - All members of the Fifth Malaysia-Indonesia Strategic Bilateral Colloquium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, agreed that the biggest problem between Indonesia and Malaysia was Indonesian workers issues. "The tension will always be high as long as this fundamental problem is unfinished," a member of Special Board for Revised Laws No 39/2004 on Placement and Protection of Indonesia Workers Abroad, Eva Kusuma Sundari, said on Sunday.

She said that the current regulation was only beneficial for recruiters. Both Malaysian employers and Indonesia workers suffer losses. The recruiters from both countries take excessive charge from employers and workers.

Indonesia is allegedly weakly control towards recruiters. The recruiters can send unqualified workers abroad. Sundari admitted the matter and asked Malaysian Kingdom to stop legalizing policy for emigrant to prevent extortion.Meanwhile, Malaysia Ambassador to Indonesia, Dato' Syed Munshe Afdzaruddin Syed Hassan, suggested local governments in Indonesia to involve in the sending of Indonesian workers.
