REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesia has blocked 'Innocence of Muslims' film before Malaysia and India did, Indonesia's Minister of Communication and Information Technology Tifatul Sembiring said. He explained that government immediately blocked the access on the first day the film was circulated and spark controversy.

"We are the first to block. We are cooperating with Youtube," he said on Tuesday.

Government also banned 16 URL related to the film, yet some people still uploaded it to the internet. "We will process it. We will proceed will legal action any uploader from Indonesia," he said.

YouTube said it has blocked access to the film in Libya, Egypt, India and Indonesia. The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Raja Pervez Ashraf, as cited on International Business Times has ordered the shutdown of the video-sharing website YouTube in order to prevent any further violence related to the anti-Islamic film “Innocence of Muslims.”

Meanwhile, Russia's Communications Minister Nikolai Nikiforov said access to YouTube across Russia could be blocked under a new law that takes effect on November 1 if the portal did not remove the video that considered mocking the Prophet Mohammad PBUH. The video, which sparked violent protests in many Muslim countries, has been deemed extreme by Russian prosecutors who have now asked the court to ban it. The court now has five days to make a ruling on whether the film is extreme.
