REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKALONGAN – Local government of Pekalongan in Central Java launches local branding sticker 'World City of Batik' as effort to popularize the city as the center of batik. For a start, the sticker will be placed in official cars in Pekalongan.
"The branding sticker is also aimed to tone up Indonesian Batik Week (PNB) in October 2012," the Head of Economic Department in Pekalongan, Setyo Susilo, said on Friday.
Domestic and foreign tourists are expected to get to know Pekalongan better as world city of batik with this sticker. The official cars are chosen for the first start because many people can read and see it.
"Official cars have bigger moving space. The chance that people see the sticker is bigger when the officials make official tour to other cities," he said.
