REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Minister of State-Owned Enterprises Dahlan Iskan announced that passenger service charge or known as airport tax would be included in airplane ticket starting from September 1, 2012. "Starting from September 1, airport tax is changed. It is included in ticket price," Iskan said on Thursday.

Garuda Indonesia will initially take the step as the state-owned aviation has integrated information system with airport. Iskan authorized the implementation of airport tax to each airline.

Iskan said that the step was an effort towards international ranking airport. Currently Indonesian airports are not on the list international ranking system.

The Executive Director of Angkasa Pura I (AP I) Tommy Soetomo said that there were only five five-star airlines in Asia. They are Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific Hong Kong, dan Asiana South Korea. Soetomo is also ready to integrate the system of AP I with Garuda Indonesia.
