REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian plantation commodity exports reach 16.98 billion USD in the first semester the year or 50 percent of 32.16 billion USD from total exports last year, according to the data in the Ministry of Agriculture.
The Director General of Plantation in the Ministry of Agriculture, Gamal Nasir, said the most demanded commodities came from the export of 12.28 million tonnes of plantation commodities. "Plantation commodities contribute to the biggest foreign exchange. The commodities are crude palm oil (CPO), rubber, and cocoa," he said.
The export of CPO reaches 9.78 tonnes or equal to 9.95 billion USD, while cocoa contributes 665 million USD or 237.2 tonnes. Rubber export reaches 1.45 tonnes or 5.16 billion USD. CPO contributes 17.26 billion USD, rubber 11.13 billion USD and cocoa 1.17 million USD to the total plantation commodity exports last year.
"Other plantation commodities that contribute to our exports are coconut, coffee, cashew nut, clove, tea, tobacco, pepper, and so on," he said.
