REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DENPASAR - Penebel Village in Tabanan, Bali, will host the annual Miss World 2013 contest. The Deputy Regent of Tabanan, Komang Gede Sanjaya, confirmed that the committee of Miss World had delivered the plan to the local government.
"Tabanan is chosen because it supports 'go green'. Also, subak Bali has been recognized as the World Heritage," he said.
He believes that tourists are now prefer to visit more natural places. He admits that other places in Bali has better potency, but Tabanan is more natural. "Let other regions accept the investors to build hotels, but we are proud with our rice barn. We are proud that we have rice field, eel, and river," he said.
Until today, he still focuses on maintaining eco tourism in Tabanan. About 70 percent of the area is for green open area and the rest is for the building. "The name 'rice barn' must be maintained," he said.
