REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA - Railway industry in Indonesia, PT INKA, in Madiun will export train couches to Malaysia this year. "Malaysia orders 16 coaches. They will be delivered in two phases. The first batch will be eight coaches," the Public Relations of PT INKA, Fathur Rasyid, said on Thursday.
The first phase of the export will be shipped by sea from North Emerald Terminal Port of Tanjung Perak, Surabaya. Eight trains to be delivered include six units of air conditioner second class (ACSC), a unit of power generating car (PGC), and a unit of air conditioned buffer car (ABC). The contract value, Rasyid said, reached 4.7 million USD.
The Assistant Manager of Operations Planning and Control Port of Tanjung Perak Surabaya, Joko Priyono, said the eight couches would be shipped using MV Haugaard Scan Ship. Now the shipping schedule is still waiting for the administration process.
Besides Malaysia, several countries such as Iran and Bangladesh also order INKA’s product. "Bangladesh is still at planning stage. It may order 70 locomotives. Meanwhile, Iran has already ordered 108 couches," Rasyid explained.
