Aha… this is good news for cartoonists and cartoon lovers! Bali will soon build cartoon museum following the demand from some cartoonists to Bali Governor Made Mangku Pastika who responded the demand positively.

"It is very good to see the chronological history of our people in humorous way yet smart through a cartoon museum," the governor said.

Every developing country, he said, always had cartoon museum to explain its social phenomenon.

The Bali Chairman of the United of Indonesian Cartoonist (Pakarti), Ida Bagus Matinaya, said the caricature art had been developed in Bali since 1981. "We have many educated and meaningful works," he said. For him, cartoon is special art and paradoxical since the art work can either make people happy or angry.

"The point is the cartoonist should have ethical code in presenting their works. The cartoon cannot insult other tribes, religions, and race. And no insult towards people with physical disabilities," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Chairman of Bali Pakarti, Made Gede Parama Artha, said the museum could attract many tourists. He added that many old works could be presented in the museum.
