REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BALI – Indonesia, as a big and developing country, is a heaven for business in telecommunication, especially for cellular phone (cellphone) and its operator. The Chief Marketing Officer of Axis, host of GSM Asia Pacific International Conference, is optimistic that the company can gain many profits from the country.

“The number of population here is huge and they need communication by using cellphone,” he said on Tuesday on the opening speech of 35th GSMA Asia Pacific Conference and Exhibition in Bali.

He added that the economy of the country also grew fast. “The GDP is growing from year to year,” he said.

Also, the Indonesian culture and behavior support the growth of telecommunication industry. The Indonesian people are known to be smart in choosing the operator according to their needs. “They prefer the provider with the cheapest service,” he said.

Yet, as an archipelago country, this condition becomes a challenge in this business, not to mention that the distance from a city to another is also far. Thus, bigger investment is a must to present the best service for such huge population.
